As large as Long Beach is, did you know that it’s only the 7th largest in California? That’s still quite a large city, one of the best in the state, and it has a rich history. Are you familiar with the last name Bixby or the neighborhood Bixby Knolls? The city or Long Beach was officially incorporated on December 13th, 1897, and one of its nicknames is the Aquatic Capital of the World, and you will see why in a minute. Long Beach is one large coastal community for sure. I used to think it was located in Orange County. While it is close by Orange County, it is actually part of Los Angeles County. It is still part of southern California of course, and one of its top attractions, the Aquarium of the Pacific, is a testament to its nickname. The city has also a big background in the oil industry, having the 4th largest oilfield in the entire country, Wilmington Oilfield. You can learn even more about the history of Long Beach and it’s culture by looking at its attractions. For example, take a look at the Aquarium of the Pacific, located on Aquarium Way in Long Beach. Or, you can stop by two ranches that have historical significance, Rancho Los Cerritos and Rancho Los Alamitos. Both are historical sites, and let’s get a closer look. Rancho Los Alamitos is located on East Bixby Hill Road, and it is said to be a gated community with plenty big farm animals and beautiful gardens. It sounds like it would especially be a great place to take the kids. Then there is Rancho Los Cerritos, which is located on North Virginia Road, and there is a ranch house to see there and a visitors center to be your guide. Both are great places to visit to learn about California history, specifically about the history of Long Beach CA. Did you know that there was an attack on Long Beach during World War II? There is so much to learn about, and it is time to look at another attraction you can visit to help make that learning process more fun. There are all kinds of other fun attractions to enjoy, too, but learning about the history can also be fun. The Bembridge Heritage is another historical site to visit, and it is mentioned in the reviews that it is best to visit the attraction during Christmas. Located on North Park Circle, the Bembridge House is Victorian style, and it is said to be a nice place to visit. It’s a historical house in Long Beach, so you will learn some more history, too. One more attraction that you have to visit is The Queen Mary. After doing that, you can say that you have completed your informative tour of Long Beach history. Are you ready to visit the mentioned attractions after learning a little about the history of Long Beach CA? It would be neat to see everything in person and maybe catch some waves, too.
